Common use
Cerecetam is primarily used to manage myoclonus, a neurological condition characterized by involuntary muscle jerks. This medicine belongs to a group known as nootropics. This tablet can also be used to manage various cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, age-related memory decline and dementia associated with Parkinson's disease. Furthermore, it may help in cases of cognitive impairment following a head injury.
Dosage and direction
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it. You can take this medicine with or without food, as per your doctor's advice. Do not exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor. It's crucial not to stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to.
Precautions
Bleeding disorders: If you have a history of bleeding problems, use Cerecetam with caution as it could affect blood clotting.
Hyperthyroidism: Cerecetam may amplify the effects of thyroid hormones, so if you have an overactive thyroid gland, be sure to monitor your condition closely.

Contraindications

Possible side effect

Drug interaction
Anticoagulants and Antiplatelet agents: Medicines like warfarin, aspirin or clopidogrel may interact with Cerecetam, potentially increasing the risk of bleeding.
Thyroid hormones: Medicines such as levothyroxine or liothyronine may have their effects amplified by Cerecetam, possibly leading to hyperthyroidism.
Central Nervous System (CNS) depressants: When taken along with Cerecetam, CNS depressants like diazepam can increase sedative effects.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Cerecetam, take it as soon as you recall. However, if it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosage schedule. Do not increase your dose without discussing it with your doctor.
Overdose
Exceeding the prescribed dosage of Cerecetam might lead to nervousness, restlessness, or weight gain. Gastrointestinal disturbances like nausea and vomiting, sleep disturbances, and headaches might also occur. If you experience any of these symptoms persistently, inform your doctor.
Storage
Store Cerecetam at room temperature, ideally below 30 C. Keep this medicine in a tightly closed container, away from light and moisture. Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.
